A poem based on a true story….

When I walked in the house, the presents were not there…

I immediately felt a bit of a scare…

The presents, once wrapped with love and care…

She ripped and she tore as if on a dare…

I followed the torn paper down the hall…

I yelled out to Daphne, call after call…

I turned the corner into the room…

I immediately realized I needed a broom…

I glared at her, screaming loud and clear…

she looked up at me, grinning ear to ear…

I yelled in her face, as she sat perfectly still…

I got closer to her, I got up in her grill…

She smirked and she smiled, with a look all her own…

Happy to have found her gift, a new bone…

When Elmo heard me yelling and screaming…

He entered the room smiling and beaming…

“Leave her alone, she’s only a pup”

“Come with me little Daphne, lets get you cleaned up”…

With Elmo there, she was safe and sound…

Until he saw his magic cards, chewed up on the ground…

“What have you done?” he said to his girl…

“You’ve ruined my life, you ruined my world!”…

To make matters worse, he later discovered…

She found his bag of Reese’s opened and uncovered…

Now HE yelled and screamed, because he had been dooped…

Turns out little Daphne had puked and puked…

In his room, he found the big nasty mess…

He looked at Daphne, and tried to get her to confess…

Daphne looked at Elmo with her nub a waggin’…

She had a look on her face as if she were braggin’…

“I liked the peanut butter” he knew she would say…

“but the chocolate, not good, not in any way!”…

Needless to say, we cleaned it all up…

Now there are new house rules, for that 10 month old pup…

It’s Daphne’s first Christmas, what a memorable one it will be…

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, she chewed up the tree…
