I have said this before and I will say it again… Egidio is the hardest working man I know. He truly is. My family can’t get over the drive and work ethic that this man has. With that being said, and I say this with love… there is something just a little off with him. His sister has described him as having undiagnosed ADHD. I don’t think that’s it… but there is something. He really CAN’T sit still. Not only can he not sit still… he goes from one thing to another like his mind is going in such fast motion that he has to physically run to keep up with it.

A few days ago I was talking to my boss Coleen about Egidio. I was updating her on the incredible amount of work he has done on the farm in such a short period of time. We joked about his possible ADHD and Coleen said “He doesn’t have ADHD, he has If You Give a Mouse a Cookie Syndrome.” And my God… She is right!! That’s what it is!! It is a perfect description of Egidio. He has If you Give a Mouse a Cookie Syndrome!! (Notice the resemblance in the picture above)

If you are a parent you know the story…

If you give a mouse a cookie,

He is going to want a glass of milk.

If you give him a glass of milk,

he is going to want…….

Soooooooo………………….

If you give Egidio a farm,

He is going to want to fix it up.

If he wants to fix up the farm,

He will need his tools.

If you give Egdio his tools

He will want a safe place to keep his tools, like one of the barns.

For Egidio to keep his tools in one of the barns,

We will need to clean out the barn.

If we clean out the barn,

we will have to replace the barn floor.

If we replace the barn floor,

We are going to have to fix the broken windows.

If we fix the broken windows,

we will have to fix the sliding barn door.

Once we fix the door we will have to repair the road leading to the barn.

If we are going to repair the road,

Egidio is going to need much bigger tools, like heavy machinery.

If you give Egidio access to heavy machinery

He is going to want to knock down all the trees around him.

If he knocks down all the trees around him.

He is going to make a mess of the farm.

If Egidio makes a mess of the farm,

He is going to want to clean the mess he made.

For Egidio to clean such a big mess,

He is going to need bigger machines, like an excavator.

If you give Egidio an excavator,

He is going to want to widen the driveway by moving and crushing the boulders.

If Egidio moves and crushed boulders,

Its going to make a big mess…..

You see where I am going with this right?? Well, we can all rest a little easier knowing that Egidio suffers from “If you give a mouse a cookie syndrome”

It could be worse… He could suffer from “I’m too lazy to get my ass off the couch syndrome”
